Why Nythrex

Why Nythrex: AI development costs you can explain

AI coding tools have become a line item of their own in the engineering budget, but the bill for them lives apart from what the team actually shipped. Nythrex connects the two: every code change gets its cost, and every figure gets a basis you can explain to a finance lead or a founder.

  • Metadata only

    Time, model, tokens, commit. No code, no prompts, no file names.

  • Rules, not generation

    The same records always give the same recommendations — with the arithmetic behind every amount.

  • Unknown ≠ zero

    A total without a price is marked incomplete. The gap is shown, not hidden.

The problem: the spend is there, the explanation is not

A typical team in 2026 has four separate reports: the AI bill, CI minutes, the cloud invoice and a list of merged code. Each is accurate, yet none answers the question the business asks: what did this feature cost, and was it worth it?

  • the AI bill keeps growing, but nobody knows which projects consume it;
  • some AI sessions never end in a commit, and nobody sees that;
  • failed CI runs and cloud resources with no owner disappear into the total;
  • a spreadsheet assembled by hand is out of date by next week.

What Nythrex does differently

  • The cost of every change

    Task, AI session, commit, pull request, CI and deploy become one unit of work. How the chain works.
  • The basis of every figure

    Reported by the source, measured × price or estimated — the label sits on every number, not in a footnote to a report.
  • Recommendations with evidence

    Named rules find where money produced no result and show the records and the arithmetic. What the recommendations look like.
  • Nothing to run

    Once connected, records arrive on their own, and the rules fire after every data refresh.

Principles we do not bend

Numbers about money are trusted only when their limits are visible. So the product is built on a few hard rules:

  • Unknown never becomes zero. If a source did not report a price, the total is marked incomplete.
  • An estimate is never passed off as a fact. AI on a subscription and CI within included minutes are labelled as estimates from the price list.
  • Cloud is not split artificially. The cloud bill is counted at project level, not smeared across changes.
  • Analytics, not surveillance. The product does not compare people with each other or rate productivity.
  • Your code stays yours. Access to sources is read-only; code and prompts are not stored. How we protect data.

What Nythrex does not do

An honest list of limits is more useful than another feature list:

  • it does not measure developer productivity or build leaderboards;
  • it changes nothing in your repositories, trackers or cloud accounts;
  • it does not generate recommendations with a language model — every recommendation is the result of a named rule;
  • it does not promise savings: a potential amount is never added to what was actually saved.

Häufige Fragen

Who is Nythrex for?

For teams that write code with Claude Code or Codex and need to explain where the money goes: engineering leaders, founders of small teams and whoever owns the engineering budget.

How is Nythrex different from my AI provider’s bill?

The bill shows how much was spent in a period. Nythrex shows what it was spent on: which project, which code change and whether that change reached production — together with the CI and cloud of the same project.

Does Nythrex replace engineering metrics platforms?

No. Nythrex does not measure people’s productivity and does not run surveys. It answers a different question — what delivered work cost and what is worth changing. See the comparison page for details.
